Team Riders :: Werner Lamprecht

How and when did you start skating?
Popped my first ollie when I was 12 at a leader camp back in the 6th grade
Who were you skating with at first?
Started skating with friends from The Reeds in Centurion
What terrain were you riding at first?
Flat street spots and small curbs
Who were some early influences on your skating?
Blunt magazines. The guys in there amped me up to skate so much. Guys like Christ Wiehahn, Lloyd Hodoul, Nic Mavian, Andrew Morck, Puddy & Jaqcues Zwennis, Alan Marola…
Do you enjoy skating in contests?
No.
How could contests be improved?
New skate jam formats are a lot better
What do you think of skate videos?
Videos are cool. They amp you up so much and they show you who is doing what out there!
Which are your favorites?
All videos coming from the Girl/Chocolate house as well as the Cliché vids!
Do you enjoy shooting video parts?
Yes. It’s awesome to think of a trick and then go shoot it.
Do you skate small stuff like curbs and parking bumps?
Yes, I still skate smaller stuff. I love doing small wallies up curbs.
Do you skate vert ramps?
I can skate it, but I normally avoid it.
Do you ever session backyard pools much?
no. I don’t have the opportunity to.
What do you think of public concrete skateparks?
Well, we don’t have any to skate in Centurion, but I’ve skated the concrete park in Klerksdorp and if I could skate the one in Durban I would probably love it. The whole concept of a free park is so cool!
Should skateparks copy real street spots?
I think so. Just imagine how cool it would be to skate something in your own backyard that’s from like a spot in the US or where ever. I do think they should bring in a lot more marble though! Would make the ledges so much more like a genuine street spot!

How did you get on Slip?
Quite a long story, but it basically comes down to me meeting the owner of the company by chance at one of my favourite spots in Centurion. He told me he was starting a new company and I helped with some of the info needed to make the company a success in the market. I also sold and continue to sell the products out my car’s boot and yeah, the owner of Slip asked me if I wanted to be on the team and I couldn't decline the offer.
What do you like about Slip?
The over all feel of the company dude. The products are good quality. The boards have insanely good pop and they do not chip easily! The wheels are exactly the way I love them and yeah, it’s just a good company to be a part of.
Who do you skate with now?
So many people in the SA scene dude. I normally skate with my Centurion homies like Reuben Els, Hein Kotzé, Johan Swanepoel and Tiaan Vermaak. But yeah, I have so many friends all over the country. I love skating with the Plankie Plankie guys like Joubert and Jansen Van Staden as well as the guys from JHB.
Who are your favorite skaters of all time?
International - Keenan Milton was good. Marc Johnson. Brandon Biebel. Tom Penny. Mark Appleyard.

Local – Christi Wiehahn, Alan Marola, Moses Adams, Skippy Steyn, Clint Van Der Schyf, Gavin Morgan, Wandile Msomi, Maanda Mulaudzi, Thabo Nage, Joubert and Jansen Van Staden, Brendan Ryall and the list goes on…
What have been the highlights of your skateboarding career?
I don't know.
Is there anything in skateboarding you haven't done that you'd like to accomplish?
Skating handrails? hahaha
What do you enjoy besides skating?
Photography
What music, art, books have you been enjoying lately?
Music – Jack Johnson, Just Jack, All Jay-Z albums, some European trip hop stuff.

Art – don’t do

Books – don’t do
What are your future goals?
Making a success of my life and still skating in the future!
